The site of the former British Legion on Albert Road in South Kilburn was transformed by a team of architects, carpenters, artists and local construction trainees into a new pop-up venue for arts and community well-being. In December a diverse range of artists, cooks, performers, dancers, choreographers and the unexpected moved into the Albert Centre to work and facilitate a new exciting programme of activities, workshops and events to the general public.
For a limited amount of time THE ALBERT is bringing together a range of playful projects that people can take part in - projects that test you physically and creatively. The local neighbourhood and the general public are invited to THE ALBERT to embark on experiments, enjoy the pop-up café and restaurant, join the cycle training, try out something new: sing in a choir, perform as a dancer, grow vegetables, and learn to cook or get physical! There are lots of interesting spaces and activities to explore including a community food growing project, outside green space and ballcourt, a public kitchen, exhibitions, and a food market.

(Monique, in her own words.) Booking is now open for our latest production, Lost Nation. Based on interviews with real people, Lost Nation is gritty site-specific drama set in the streets of London. It is the culmination of extensive research whilst working alongside some of the most vulnerable in our society. Lost Nation tells the story of people who have been branded skivers and shirkers in their own words. |

Saturday 28th July The Albert residents invite you to a summer party at our South Kilburn creative space. We’ll be filling The Albert No. 1 and its outdoor spaces with art, dance, music and delicious food. Spend the afternoon immersed in a live visual art installation, feast at our awesome Potluck BBQ, chill in the garden with lemonade and homemade cake, grab a drink and see the floor taken by dance performances, and stay late for live music and dancing. All ages welcome. Proceeds from food and drink will go towards the continued life of The Albert. Food will be served from 4-8pm. The Potluck Performance line-up will be announced on the website nearer the time. Join us in celebrating and supporting this vital artistic community and arts hub. |
