Walk the Ring Road

Greening the Rofmord Ring Road Masterplan/Design Guide Commission
Client:
London Borough of Havering 2008
Team: What if: projects (lead consultant), Havering Walks Coordinator, Inge Clemente (photography)

Walk the Romford Ring Road represented the first in a series of public consultation and engagement projects that aim to get local people involved in the process of developing the Greening the Romford Ring Road Masterplan. The walk encouraged residents from all age groups to enjoy an afternoon stroll around the entire 2-mile stretch of the Ring Road.

The flyer included a ‘tick-box’ questionnaire that assesses the ‘live-abilty’ rating of the Ring Road. Questions are directed towards different issues such as safety, walkability and connectivity, and also the quality of the general environment. It also encouraged local residents to become ‘Friends of the Romford Ring Road’.

Friends of the Romford Ring Road is an opportunity to encourage and form an ‘interest’ group of local people that can continue taking part in consultations for Greening the Romford Ring Road and become a creative ‘work force’ for community engagement events and for the future of the Ring Road.
