Peckham Weeklies

date: July 2014 – ongoing
weeklies meetings: every Tuesday, 7pm, refer to Peckham Weeklies website for meeting place

The peckham weeklies is a multi-disciplinary, multi-age, free range community group that come together every Tuesday evening. Substantially assisted by the wisdom of existing community groups, it has generated an inclusive and productive framework for meetings: through its focus on devising and publishing magazines about Peckham, it has provided a valuable forum for debate which, in turn, has brought about a deeper understanding of and engagement with issues of planning, the local economy and identity.

The weeklies team have co-created a series of content-rich magazines and events, harnessing the talents of local volunteers to delve into the architecture and activities that make Peckham and the Old Kent Road such a distinctive and interesting place. weeklies have proved fertile ground, sparking new ideas, research proposals and links with local and national groups. During the London Festival of Architecture 2015 event on the 9th June the peckham weeklies explored why now is the time to become an engaged citizen. Governed by policies, strategies and plans that are indigestible and unknown to the majority of people, the urban landscape of London is being transformed dramatically.

For the London Festival of Architecture 2016 – 2018 Peckham weeklies in collaboration with UCL, CASS, residents and businesses have organised events focused on the Old Kent Road ‘opportunity area’. More info
