Stepney City Farm, E5

Stepney City Farm is situated in a high density and culturally diverse neighbourhood in Tower Hamlets, bordering onto large social housing estates as well as historic terraces. Like other city farms in London it provides rural experiences for city dwellers, both young and old that they otherwise would not have. Stepney City Farm has been in existence for 30 years and most recently benefitted from much needed investment from Crossrail.

what if: projects helped Stepney City Farm improve the entrance area to their café and offices. A timber screen hides the existing container building to create a new enclosure for the outside seating and play space. Timber cupboards and hatches are integrated into the screen to accomodate work equipment as well as create display areas for the sale of farm grown eggs, vegetables and plants.
