The
udder way team have identifed a series of sites to graze the cows and
to set up the basecamp. All sites are within the Toxteth area of Liverpool
and are all within close proximity to each other. Each site has a large
grassed area and is classified derelict. 6 years ago the sites used by
COW for grazing were occupied by terraces and tenements.
A government strategy has been set up to tackle "problems" associated
with "shrinking" inner-city areas. "Compulsory purchase
orders" are served upon houeholds. Homes are boarded up in preparation
for demolition. These sites make way for new private housing and Housing
Corporation developments.
"Critics
are saying amongst other things, that it's a return to the slum clearance
of the 60's"
